Privacy Policy — ContextMeter
Last updated: July 9, 2026
ContextMeter is a macOS application developed by MuJo Software. This policy explains how the app handles your data. In short: ContextMeter does not collect, transmit, or share any of your data. Its only internet connection is to check whether an updated version of the app is available.
Your data stays on your Mac
ContextMeter processes your data entirely locally, on your computer. Specifically:
- No data collection. We do not collect personal information, usage analytics, device identifiers, or data of any kind.
- No tracking. There are no analytics, ads, cookies, or tracking technologies.
- No account. You don't need to sign up or provide any information to use ContextMeter.
Update check (the only internet connection)
To let you know when a new version is available, ContextMeter periodically (at most once a day) reads a small public file on the MuJo Software website. During this operation:
- the app only downloads information about the latest available version;
- it sends none of your data: no personal information, no conversation content, no identifier. It is a simple read, like opening a web page.
- you can turn this off entirely in Settings ("Check for updates automatically"): in that case the app never connects to the internet.
We do not use these checks to collect statistics or profile you.
What the app reads (on your device only)
To show you how full your conversations' context is, ContextMeter reads — read-only — certain files that the Claude app stores locally on your Mac (the conversation logs for Cowork and Code). This data:
- is read only on your device and used only to calculate and display the context percentage;
- is never copied elsewhere, stored, transmitted, or shared;
- stays where it is: ContextMeter never modifies, writes, or deletes anything.
The settings you choose in the app (language, color, launch at login, notifications) are stored locally in your Mac's preferences and never leave your device.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, ContextMeter uses macOS's notification system to alert you when you approach the context limit. This happens entirely on your Mac.
Children
ContextMeter is not directed at a specific audience of children and, as it collects no data, it does not process any information about children.
Changes to this policy
If the way the app handles data ever changes, we will update this policy and the date at the top. The latest version will always be available on the MuJo Software website.
