A Mac menu-bar app that shows how full your Claude conversation’s context is — so you know when it’s time to compact or start fresh.

ContextMeter reads files that the Claude desktop app keeps on your Mac. Those files are internal and change without notice, so the app needs constant care to stay accurate. It’s paused while I decide its future, and downloads are closed.
Already have it? It keeps running, but parts of it may stop working as the Claude app changes. You can switch off its update check in Settings at any time.
What it does
- Shows your context usage in the menu bar, always in sight
- Turns orange, then red, as you approach the limit
- Lists your recent Cowork and Code conversations
- Read-only and private: your data never leaves your Mac
