GreenFill
The green button of every window fills the screen instead of going full screen. Click it again and the window goes back to its previous size.
What it does
- Fill, not full screen. Click the green button and the window fills the screen with macOS’s own Fill (Window → Fill). Unlike full screen, it doesn’t open a separate space: the menu bar and the Dock stay where they are.
- Click again to go back. A second click returns the window to the size and place it had before.
- Full screen is still there. Hold ⌥, ⌘, ⌃, ⇧ or fn while you click, and the green button does its usual thing.
- Any language. It works whatever language your Mac is set to.
- Out of the way. It lives in the menu bar, with no icon in the Dock.
Requirements
- macOS 15 Sequoia or later
- A Mac with Apple silicon or an Intel processor
Install
- Open GreenFill-1.0.dmg: you’ll find it in your Downloads folder.
- Drag GreenFill onto the Applications folder.
- Open GreenFill from Applications. If macOS reminds you that it comes from the Internet, click Open.
- The first time, macOS asks for your permission: in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility (on macOS 27: Device Control and Data Access), turn on GreenFill.
GreenFill isn’t in the list, or macOS didn’t ask? Click + at the bottom of the list, choose GreenFill in Applications (or drag it into the list) and confirm with Touch ID or your password.
GreenFill needs this permission to notice clicks on the green button and press Fill for you. Everything happens on your Mac.
Privacy
GreenFill collects no data and never connects to the Internet. Your settings stay on your Mac. All the details are in the privacy policy.
Uninstall
Choose Quit from GreenFill’s icon in the menu bar, then drag GreenFill from Applications to the Trash. If you like, also remove it from System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility (on macOS 27: Device Control and Data Access).
